Our Story

Modus Tech-wear was created and conceived with the vision of intertwining smart textiles with Internet of things to serve the rapidly growing aging population. It began at the Silver Economy workshop sponsored by the Mayor of Providence in January, 2017. Both Dr’s. Mankodiya and Burbank, unknown to each other prior to this, were on a panel together to present their individual technologies related to mobility for older adults. Dr. Mankodiya presented his smart socks for patients with Parkinson's disease and Dr. Burbank presented her AAGILE device that was then being converted into an app to help motivate older adults to exercise. After hearing each others’ presentations, they met immediately afterwards joining Ben Burbank, a Providence-based businessman who was also in the audience, and decided to put these two technologies together. AAGILE smart socks were born and the Modus Tech-wear LLC was created to move the AAGILE socks ahead, eventually to market.
